ABOUT HANNAH

Hannah Samuel is a queer Naarm/Melbourne based writer. She has written on numerous television series, including The PM’s Daughter (Fremantle/ABC) and Rock Island Mysteries (Fremantle/Nickelodeon) – both of which were nominated for an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) award for Best Children’s Program in 2022. In 2022 she was highly commended in the Mona Brand Early Career Award for her episodes on the narrative podcast series Wentworth: The Fall Girl (Audible). She has a BFA (Screenwriting) from the Victorian College of the Arts, and has previously worked in-house at Matchbox Pictures.

Hannah has contributed to a wide range of children and adult television story rooms. She writes to make space for people of colour within narratives long reserved for white people. Her work centres on POCs, whose cultural and racial identity are only one part of their complex, messy and joyful stories.
